How we can help
Schoolmix offers a range of support depending on what a school, teacher or family needs. That might be organising a specific event, connecting a school with others nearby, or providing resources that make classroom life a little easier. This includes working with disabled children and their families, not as an afterthought but as something I actively plan for and want to get right.
I'm a trained Teaching Assistant, Levels 1, 2, 3 and 4 Early Years, SEN, and Primary Teaching and Child Care. That background means I'm not just organising events from a distance, I understand what actually goes into supporting a disabled child well, what good SEN provision looks like day to day, and what schools and families genuinely need rather than what looks good on paper.
We don't believe in a one size fits all approach. A small primary school and a large secondary school need very different things, and a family supporting a disabled child needs something different again. We'd rather have an honest conversation about what would genuinely help than offer the same package to everyone, and that includes making sure events and support are properly accessible, not just technically available.
If you're not sure what you need, that's fine too. Often the best starting point is simply telling us what's currently difficult or missing, whether that's about SEN support, general classroom life, or anything else, and we can work out together what support would make the biggest difference.
